Sweet & Spicy BBQ Sauce
Tunisian Harissa (adjust to taste)
Corn Starch (for thickening or arrowroot)
Mix 1/2 cup of water with the Tunisian Harissa, brown sugar, Sultans' Delight and vinegar. Bring to a boil and reduce heat. Cook for a few minutes.
When sauce has thickened add more water. Slowly add remaining water while thickening sauce.
In the meantime, remove 2 tbsp of the sauce and mix with corn starch in a separate ramekin or bowl then add the starch mixture back to the sauce to thicken.
If you prefer a tomato based sauce, add ¼ cup of ketchup. Continue cooking until sauce is to your desired consistency. You will know it is ready when the sauce covers the back of a spoon when spoon is dipped into the sauce.
Remove from heat and cool.
Yields approximately ¾ to ½ cup of sauce depending on consistency.
