Homemade hummus is easy to prepare and allows you to make many variations. This recipe calls for a little heat with the Tunisian Harissa blend.
1, 540 ml can of chick peas (slightly over 2 cups), drained and rinsed
2 TBSP tahini paste (sesame paste)
1-2 cloves garlic
1 lemon, juiced
1/4 cup olive oil
Sea salt (to taste)
1-2 TBSP Tunisian Harissa Powder
Incorporate all of the ingredients in a food processor and process. Adjust consistency by adding water until you have a light smooth puree.
Transfer to a serving dish. Drizzle top with a little olive oil and sprinkle a little Tunisian Harissa powder.
Serve with pita bread, pita chips, naan bread, tortilla chips, carrot & celery sticks, etc.
